Ryoji Ikeda: visual systems

Ryoji Ikeda is a Japanese sound artist who lives and works in Paris. Ikeda’s music is concerned primarily with sound in a variety of “raw” states, such as sine tones and noise, often using frequencies at the edges of the range of human hearing. His works are often accompanied with installations showcasing computer-generated graphics which are mostly consist of lines numbers written in computer fonts.

This project aims to create a series of four posters promoting his concert. A visual system is to be formulated and should be applied to the posters as well as a screen-based sequence. Although Ikeda’s works already have a strong and explicit visual style, the task is to create a separate system which can both echo with his works and celebrate his achievements.
